Our Mission

Jaya Kula exists to support its parishioners and all people in the natural process of unfoldment toward Self-realization.

Our Vision

We envision continuing to host a collaborative, sustainable, supportive mandala of people who are committed to the practice of direct realization Tantra and to becoming living examples of the human potential to embody wisdom, skill, compassion, tenderness, devotion, and spontaneity.

ShambhaviJaya Kula’s Spiritual Director

Shambhavi Sarasvati is the spiritual director of Jaya Kula. Her principle training is in the View and practices of Kashmir Shaivism, the Tantrik tradition of North India, and the Dzogchen tradition of Tibet. She has been fortunate to have trained with several great teachers in these and other nondual traditions.

Shambhavi is a householder sannyasini, an initiate in the lineage of Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati of Rikhia, India and a devotee of Anandamayi Ma.  She hopes to bring more people to an understanding of the breadth and depth of Ma’s teachings.

Shambhavi has studied Ayurveda for self-care for the past 12 years and apprenticed for six months in a classical Ayurveda clinic. She is also a Vedic astrologer and expert diviner.

She is the author of  Tantra: the Play of Awakening (2012) and Pilgrims to Opennness: Direct Realization Tantra in Everyday Life (2009). In addition, she published an academic book, Avatar Bodies: a Tantra for Posthumanism. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Mills College and a Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University.

Shambhavi left academia in 2004 in order to devote herself to practice, writing and teaching in the tradition of direct realization Tantra.

Tantra is a way to find out who you really are and to live in the fullness of Reality. This is Self-realization. Nothing more or less.” —Shambhavi Sarasvati
