Teachings and Events

Jaya Kula (Jai•ya Koo•la) is a nonprofit spiritual organization for people interested in learning about authentic Tantra and discovering more of life’s infinite potential. Grounded in the Indian tradition of direct realization Tantra and the teachings of Anandamayi Ma, Jaya Kula exists to support its community and all people in the natural process of unfoldment toward Self-realization. Shambhavi Sarasvati is the spiritual director.

All Jaya Kula teachings take place at 4160 SE Division St. Portland, OR 97206.
Dharma Talks and satsangs are by donation. Other teachings as noted.
Teachings are open to newcomers and drop-ins unless otherwise noted.

Ongoing Teachings

  • Dharma Talk and Satsang – Wednesdays 6:30-8:00pm.
  • NEW! Shamatha Meditation group practice – First Saturday of the month. 9am-10am. By donation. Open to anyone who has received Shamatha instruction from Shambhavi. Others by permission. Door will be locked at 8:55am, so arrive by that time.
  • Open Practice – First Saturday of the month. 10:30am to 12:30pm.  Check the schedule for dates and location. $20.

Special Teachings and Events

  • Mantic Arts with Shambhavi – Jyotish, Divination, and Omenology with Shambhavi begins February 5th 2012.
  • SHIVA RATRI FESTIVAL – FEBRUARY 20th, 7-9pm. The Great Night of Shiva is a festival celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day of the waning moon in the month of Magha. Come sing, chant, and party! Offerings of flowers and food for puja are welcomed. 4160 SE Division, as usual.
  • Tantra Foundations with Shambhavi – get yourself a complete practice in the tradition of Kashmir Shaivism. February 23-26th, 2012.
  • Kundalini Tantra with Shambhavi. This teaching is now closed to new students.

Dharma Talk and Satsang
with Shambhavi

Wednesdays 6:30-8:00pm. Everyone welcome!

Transmission teachings on the Tantrik View of creation, nature, pleasure, suffering, sadhana, liberation, death, sex, reincarnation, magic, mayhem, and etc. Talks sometimes include dips into Tantrik scripture, poetry, art and ritual. Delivered with abundant humor and down-to-earth advice for living in a human body. Satsang is a free-wheeling mix of conversation, meditation, mantra and music in the traditions of direct realization Tantra and Sri Anandamayi Ma. Drop-ins are welcome. By donation.

Open Practice
with Shambhavi

Durga

Open Practice is a monthly opportunity to practice in a group. It includes instruction and practice in mantra, kriya yoga, meditation, ayurveda, and Tantrik hatha yoga. We also watch the occasional movie. Anyone can join in, and drop-ins are welcome. $20
