Five-Element Foundations

Sunday, September 10, 2017
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Five-Element Foundations
Matrika House, Portland ME

with Shambhavi Sarasvati

Ayurveda, Tantra and yogic practice begin with a deep understanding of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and space.

Over the course of decades of studying classical Tantra and Ayurveda, Shambhavi Sarasvati has gained a profound, experiential understanding of the five elements and their relationship to health and spiritual practice.

In this teaching, you will learn:

  • The nature and functions of the five elements and how these express themselves in our bodies, our minds, our emotions and in every manifestation of life
  • The mantras and yantras for each element
  • Simple practices to help you begin to explore and balance the five elements right away!

Five-element Foundations is appropriate for both beginners and those who have studied the five elements in other contexts.

This teaching is a required first segment for anyone taking the full Ayurveda for You series that begins on September 17th, 2017. Register here for Five-element Foundations, and then register for the remaining teachings in the Ayurveda for You series.

You may also take the Five-element Foundations as a stand-alone teaching.

Five-element Foundations is a Jaya Kula Core Teaching

Satsang with Shambhavi

Matrika House, Portland ME

Satsang = Being in Reality Together

Come learn, have fun, find community, sing
and remember who you really are.

Satsang is a lively, ancient spiritual practice from India. People gather for a relaxed, “anything goes” conversation about the nature of reality, self-realization, spiritual life, and all aspects of human experience from the most ordinary to the most cosmic.

Exactly what happens at satsang?

We chant some chants. Then Shambhavi leads a free-flowing conversation during which people ask questions about anything. The conversation is followed by open-mic, community kirtan.

What is community kirtan?

Kirtan is call and response singing accompanied by musical instruments such as harmonium, drums, bells and whatever other instruments people like to play!

We play kirtan together as a community in the ancient style. Anyone can lead the singing, or play an instrument. The emphasis is on having fun and feeling the joy of singing together. We have a harmonium and loads of percussion instruments that anyone can play. Mistakes are part of the fun.

Please join us for these unique and inspiring evenings.

PLEASE NOTE: OREGON LOCATION FOR SATSANG TONIGHT ONLY HAS BEEN CHANGED. SATSANG WILL BE AT KAILASH HOUSE 6821 SW TERWILLIGER, DUE TO A POWER OUTAGE AT DAYA.
