Tantra and Sex

A question from Germany:

I know you are not a neo-tantra teacher, but you don’t talk about sex at all! Isn’t sex a part of Tantra, even traditional Tantra?

All expressions of human life are part of traditional Tantra, including sex. I haven’t talked about sex much on Jaya Kula because, oddly enough, no one has ever asked me to!

Tantra offers two basic approaches to sex: one is through the life science of Ayurveda and the other is through ritual worship. (more…)

Selfishness and Spiritual Practice

A reader from Oregon asks:

A lot of our behavior, even when it seems selfless, is really about feeding our self image. At the same time, I think that when we become more aware of our connection with others, the self is expanded. And then that which is “self serving” is also the best thing for others.  What is selfishness?  Is it so wrong?  Are we all acting selfishly all the time, even when we think we are not?
