The six realms are six styles of emotional bondage or conditioning. Freedom means stepping out of the realms and discovering clarity, spontaneity, and natural self-expression.
What are the Six Realms of Samsara?
God, titan, human, animal, hungry ghost, and hell realms are limited styles of perception that we experience as suffering. The realms are like special glasses we wear that create karmic vision and that we cannot easily remove.
The realms are embodied by different classes of beings in the spiritual literature of India. They have been codified into a system of practice within Tibetan Buddhism. Learning about the realms helps us to de-psychologize our relationship to our limitations and sets us on a path toward a less-conditioned and more joyous form of life.
What you will learn
- The nature of the six realms as styles of the self-expression of an alive, aware reality
- How learning about the six realms can start us on a journey toward feeling more friendly and compassionate toward ourselves and others
- How each of the realms manifests in human life
- The wisdoms being expressed by each of the realms, wisdoms that we discover in ourselves when we release karmic tensions
- Simple practices you can do in the course of everyday life that begin to loosen the grip of karmic realm vision on your life
