Ways to Attend

with Shambhavi Sarasvati

Natural contemplation means resting totally fresh and uncontrived in effortless contemplation of living presence. —Shambhavi

What is Natural Contemplation?

Natural contemplation is non-conceptual, open-eyed meditation with minimal form. In other traditions, similar practices are called Trekchö (Dzogchen), Mahamudra (Kagyu) and Shikantaza (Zen).

Natural contemplation has no purpose other than the enjoyment of Reality without alteration.

If you are an experienced practitioner of mindfulness, shamatha or vipassana meditation, natural contemplation is the next step.

What you will receive

  • An understanding of the different styles of meditation and what meditation is and is not
  • Opportunity to learn and practice natural contemplation

Prerequisites

  • Substantial prior experience with any of the styles of meditation mentioned above or their equivalent.
  • Current students:  Please talk to Shambhavi if you think you may be ready to begin natural contemplation practice.
