With Shambhavi Sarasvati

The Essence of Trika Shaivism and Dzogchen is a three-part teaching on the histories, views, and core approaches of these two kindred direct realization traditions.

In part two, Three Words that Strike the Heart, we deep dive into the essential, practical teachings of the first human teacher of Dzogchen, Garab Dorje, and their equivalents in Trika Shaivism.

You do not have to take all three teachings. Even if you didn’t take Part 1, you can still come to Part 2, Part 3, or both.

What this teaching is about

Garab Dorje was a 7th century, North Indian practitioner and teacher. He spent much of his life living in a cremation ground on the outskirts of Bodhgaya. Garab Dorje’s teachings have come down to us as three words, sometimes expanded to three pithy statements, that convey the essence of Dzogchen View, practice, and fruit.

Each of Garab Dorje’s three words has an equivalent in Trika. The teachings on the three words help us to understand the essence of direct realization practice, the method by which we can realize, and what is understood as the goal of practice. They also describe the progression of practice as we move from the barest glimmer of direct realization to its full flower.

Prerequisites

None. Open to everyone.
