Having an authentic spiritual life requires that we surrender our high expectations and develop patience. A podcast from Satsang with Shambhavi.
First Words From the podcast
One of the deepest ways you can surrender to practice is to drop your expectations about practice. Now I had a friend who was also a teacher. He liked to admonish everybody that everything was just going to be neutral and unexciting and bland forever. That was part of his thing. Don’t have any expectations; nothing is happening. That hasn’t been my experience
I guess he was trying to combat California hysteria. But you get to a point where you have to tell people the truth about practice, which is that it is spectacular. But it’s not spectacular in a way that you can really imagine before you get into it. And in order to really discover what it is, you have to drop your expectations and just be there feeling and perceiving and relating to whatever is happening, whatever that might be.
