With Shambhavi Sarasvati

We aren’t trying to stop thoughts. We’re trying to remain undistracted from natural awareness, no matter what is happening in our mind or anywhere. ~Shambhavi

What is Mind Training?

People often understand mind training as getting rid of thoughts or as focusing the mind on the breath, an object, an image, or on the present moment. This is not how mind training is done in direct realization traditions.

For us, mind training means learning to recognize the ever-present ocean of living awareness from which thoughts arise and into which they subside. We then practice resting in that base state of the mind. Even as thoughts come and go, we are not distracted or disturbed.

Mind training is a way to prepare to enter more deeply into any spiritual practice.

What you will learn

  • What is ordinary mind?
  • How to relate to and calm your mind
  • Simple, traditional mind training practices you can do in order to recognize and meditate on the natural base state of the mind even as thoughts are arising and subsiding

Who is this teaching for?

This teaching is for practitioners of any level who are bothered by their thoughts. You may also benefit from this teaching if you want to deepen your recognition of and ability to rest in the natural base state of the mind.

About the teacher

Shambhavi Sarasvati

She is also known for making complex teachings about the nature of the self and reality understandable, practical, and always relatable to everyday experience. Her teachings are grounded in her more than thirty-five years of daily personal practice and personal retreats.

Generosity is a fountain of living light at the heart of creation. Having opened your heart and recognized its identity with the heart of the divine, you want to be here giving and giving throughout your natural lifetime. This is the essence of realization.” ~Shambhavi
